JOAN SALEMI Obituary

SALEMI, Joan A. Of Middletown, RI, died peacefully, at the age of 82. She was born on July 15, 1941, to the late Elias and Rose (Mazmanian) Salemi. She is survived by her siblings, Richard Salemi and Donna Salemi-Podolsky; nephews, Stephen Salemi, David Salemi and Eric Podolsky; and niece, Sarah Podolsky Druss. Born in Boston and raised in Jamaica Plain, Joan received her BS from Boston University. She spent her career as a manager at Nynex, now Verizon. She met her goal of early retirement in 1994, to enjoy life on her own terms. Joan loved her time at the beaches of Cape Cod, Rhode Island and Aruba. In addition to time spent with family and friends, she was a passionate sports fan. She possessed a dry sense of humor and her joyful laugh filled any room she was in. She will be remembered as a strong, loving and loyal sister, aunt and friend to many and will be dearly missed. A Celebration of Life event will follow at a later date.
