December 20:  Frostbite deadline for members extended to this date

January 1:  Frostbite checks due

Season’s Greetings!

I am pleased to report our proposed 2023 operating budget was approved at the December General Membership meeting. A big thanks to our board of directors and our finance committee chaired by Larry Girouard. Special thanks to our vice commodore Steve Dolan and business manager Lynn Kelly for their efforts. As a result, we were provided with a conservative balanced budget for 2023.

For the second year in a row, the Newport Parade of Lights had to be cancelled due to poor weather conditions and high winds. However, this did not stop Santa from arriving at the club for the children’s’ Christmas party. I have been told this might have been the largest turnout ever!!!  The adult Christmas party on December 3rd was completely sold out, with a waiting list. The band, food and service was outstanding. Great job, Laura, Audrey, Chip, Lynn and Tim, our chef and our entire staff.

Lastly, the latest up-to-date bylaws are now on our website, thanks Roy.

Wishing you and your families a happy and safe holiday season and a healthy New Year.

While the final numbers for the 2022 budget are a month away, we expect to finish the year with a positive balance. With all the uncertainties regarding Covid and inflation during the 2022 budget preparation process the committee chairs are to be congratulated for successfully navigating these unsure waters and keeping us on course as we prepare for 2023.

The 2023 budget passed at the General Membership Meeting on December 1, 2022. The topline numbers for the 2023 budget are as follows:

Income          $2,035,143

Expenses       $1,685,706

Net                $   349,437

The planned capital expenditures for 2023 will be $332,000. The major line items include:

  • the payoff of the loan for the dock for $73,000,
  • the sprinkler system for $159,000,
  • the kitchen health and safety upgrades for $50,000.
